Why Thermedical?

We are focused on developing technologies that address the underlying causes of ventricular tachycardia and improve outcomes for patients with complex arrhythmias.

Our expertise comes from research at the MIT Hyperthermia Center, where we focused on improving heat transfer in biological tissue.

Support to develop the SERF technique and the Durablate Catheter comes through:

- National Institutes of Health (NIH) SBIR grants

National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute

National Cancer Institute

- Massachusetts Life Sciences Center

Leadership with a track record of innovation

Led by a team with deep experience in medical device development and cardiac electrophysiology

CO-FOUNDER, CEO, DIRECTOR

Michael Curley, Ph.D., FHRS

Co-inventor of SERF technology and former Vice President and General Manager at Acuson (now Siemens). Dr. Curley led the development and global adoption of the AcuNav intracardiac ultrasound catheter, which became the standard tool for Intracardiac Echocardiography, especially in electrophysiology procedures. He has a Ph.D. from MIT in biologic heat and mass transfer, which enabled him to develop both the SERF ablation technique and the use of degassed saline. He was the lead engineer at the MIT Hyperthermia Center.
